Ford Escape: Reviews

The Escape stands out due to a lot of its tech options, and its above-average performance. Take a look at this Kelley Blue Book overview of the Ford Escape.

Being a compact SUV, it is best suited for on-road driving as opposed to off-road. All of the trims come with a 2.5 liter 4 cylinder engine, which is peppy enough for the Escape’s purposes. However, if you upgrade to the XLT trim level, a 3.0 liter, V6 is available for a little extra kick. The base trim level, the XLS comes equipped with:

  • Cruise Control
  • Air conditioning
  • Antilock brakes
  • Stability Control
  • Full power accessories

You get a lot of bang for your buck; however the XLT adds a few options to the mix that you might find favorable. With this trim level you also get automatic headlights and power driver seat among other features. Lastly the top tier trim level, the Limited, adds Ford’s Sync technology, heated front seats, and leather seats.

Optional features include things such as rear parking sensors, sunroofs, and a navigation system. It’s just a matter of what you want; there are many bells and whistles that can come with this car.

Ford Escape: Safety

Safety features can also help you save, when it comes to car insurance. That said, the Escape hasn’t received excellent safety ratings. It has received 3/5 stars overall, and 3/5 stars in front, rollover, and side crash tests by the NHTSA. The IIHS has not tested the 2012 model, but the 2011 received a ranking of “good” in the above-mentioned crash tests, and a below-average score of “marginal” when it came to crash testing its roof.

It does come with front and side air bags for all the rows of seating. Standard is also an anti-theft system that could lower your comprehensive costs, and as you know, it has parking assist as one of its many optional features.
